Stargazing from the top of Mauna Kea in Hawaii

After 20 months of lockdown starting in March 2020, I actually taught the DLC class on Networked Lighting Controls in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in November of 2021 — IN PERSON! Holy heck. Half of the class were electricians from the Oneida nation.

That was an incredible experience and we all had a great time! As far as I know, no one got COVID as a result of the class!

I spent most of the second half of 2021 in Hawaii, because … because why not?

In December of 2021, my daughter and I visited the Big Island including a trip to the top of Mauna Kea, where I saw the rings of Saturn — WITH MY OWN EYES (through a telescope). I never thought I would see the rings of Saturn with my own eyes. Just as amazing was to be in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, where a blizzard the week before carpeted the top of Mauna Kea with snow, before heading back to our hotel in Kona where it was still 80°.

There’s lots more to tell you guys about since I was extremely busy during 2022. Look for more posts to follow.
